TennieBee May Hall
HALL, TENNIEBEE M., editor, was born in Bakersfield, California,
on May 21, the second daughter of William Elmer and Lillian May
Hall. She married Harold R. Hall on Feb. 20, 1965. After receiving
a BA in Education from Fresno State College in 1962 and an AA
from Bakersfield College in 1960, she received a California lifetime
teaching certificate and taught at Edison School District, 1962-65,
and as a substitute teacher in Marin and Oakland Counties, 1965-66.
She was contract
editor for the United Ostomy Association, Inc., Irvine, California,
1986-91, editing the Ostomy Quarterly magazine and other
publications and newsletters. She is
co-author of Treating IBD, 1989, and
Current Therapy in Gastroenterology, 1989, and
author and designer of the Volunteer Leadership Training Manual,
1982-84. She has
contributeds articles to the Ostomy Quarterly and
The Phoenix magazines.
She was a campaign worker for Maureen O'Connor (first woman mayor of
the city of San Diego), 1986. She was a member of the National
Digestive Diseases Advisory Board, NIH, Washington, DC, 1986-91, and
a member of the planning and development board of Scripps Clinic and
Research Foundation,
Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center, San Diego.
She received the Outstanding Service award for VA Volunteer
Service, Bureau of Veterans Affairs,
Washington, DC, 1990. She is a member of the
National Association of Parliamentarians, and has served as editor of
the California Parliamentarian (1999-2002, 2005-2006),
Secretary of the California State Association of Parliamentarians (CSAP),
Assistant Director
and Director of the Southern Area of CSAP,
and parliamentarian
for various organizations such as the Pacific Beach Town Council,
She also holds memberships in the in the
Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, serving as a National
Trustee (1986-95), a National Vice President (1987-92), and
National Parliamentarian, and in the
United Ostomy Association, Inc., serving as Regional Program Director
(1980-84), President (1984-86), National Parliamentarian, and many
other volunter positions,
and receiving the Sam Dubin Award
(1983) and the Industry Advisory Award (1987).
She was Membership Secretary of Friends of Ostomates
Worldwide-USA, Inc. (1993-2000), and a co-recipient of its national
Service Award in 2001. She was a co-recipient of
the President's Award of CSAP in 2006..
She has planned and implemented numerous meetings and large conventions
for organizations of which she is a member, including three
UOA National
Conferences (San Diego, 1977, Las Vegas, Nevada, 1995, and
Boston, Massachusetts, 1996).
She has been listed in Marquis' Who's Who of American Women
since 1991, Who's Who in the West since 1992,
and Who's Who in America since the Millenium Edition.
Her avocations include travel and volunteerism.
